The room needed warmth, light and it needed to be anchored by color on the floor.  We added the most wonderful lamps from the  H & H  resource library.  We designed a custom size rug for the floor and added exclusive designer fabric for the windows.  We hung his art above the sofa and behold he has a place to call home away from home!

The same goal needed to be accomplished in his bedroom.   He had a few new pieces of furniture and a comfortable mattress.  He needed us to make it home.  Here is the before:

We popped gray on the walls.  We made the back wall two shades darker to add  interest to the boring apartment walls.  We added custom pillows, bedding and drapery for color and pizazz.  We finished the look with  art from his own collection and sleek lighting from our resource library.  Here is the result:

The final result is a warm, cozy apartment full of our clients personality.  He is now able to come home from a busy work day and not feel like he is coming home to a hotel room.  He is coming home until he can get home!

We changed the walls with a wonderful Thibaut geometric wallpaper mixed with silver, cream and white accents.  All the brass knobs were replaced with stainless silver. Uncomfortable spindle chairs were revived with a cushy banquette and cushy upholstered high back chairs. 

The boring builder grade floor was redone with a wonderful vinyl that mimics the expensive look of  hardwood floors wonderfully.

We commissioned a local craftsman to  custom make a table with glazed spindle legs to provide handicap accessible space for our client’s future needs.  

The space was in desperate need for lighting.  We accomplished this with a wonderful fixture from a local Birmingham craftsman. 

We also placed two antique archtitectural relic table lamp from Tricias’s Treasures  beside our banquette with exquisite Barbara Crossgrove nickel trumpet tables.

The result is a cozy space for our busy professional to unwind after a long day of work.  Naps are always welcome in the divine banquette!!

Bob Lehman did such an fabulous  job on the legs.  We love the spindles and the  finish created with  French blue with a touch of umber glaze.

The ceilings in this room are tall, therefore it is important that the eyes go up.  We found some marvelous shutters that echo the shape of the ceiling.  This placement takes your eyes above the television and unto the beauty of the screens.  The shutters also mirror the windows silhouette providing extra interest. 

We placed candles beside the television that match the scale of the television but also help make it disappear visually.

We also placed a wonderful antique screen over the sofa.  The screen also aids in bringing the eye up and away from the flatscreen.  In addition, the screen adds age and integrity to this amazing room.

This is a well-worn family room but with a classic and elegant appeal.  Every detail of the room is a play on scale, in order to hide the less lovely and make the divine details sing.

Originally, this 1920 traditional Breakfast room was used as a mere walk-through by it’s owners.

The small space was devoid of light and architectural character. This family needed functional dining space, while staying true to the  historic Arts and Crafts style. Bead board was  needed to give the small room design integrity and stay appropriate for the period. Our wonderful carpenter Chris, worked with us to design a beautiful wide plank bead board Banquette. 

The banquette was also equipped with a heating and air vent. It is so important to design with very skilled trades, who are very knowledgable and capable when implementing projects. They may cost more, but the assurance of quality vs calamity make up for the difference! 

 A search for the table base was accomplished at our favorite Tricia’s Treasure’s.  We found an antique iron base table from Cafe’ Du Mond. 

We had the iron base reinforced with iron supports that were welded underneath to hold a gorgeous waxed limestone table top.

We decorated the Banquette with geometric stain-resistant fabric cushions. For a little “glamour” we incorporated  Candice Olson’s paisley fabric for pillows. Then added beautiful sheer’s on the window for aesthetics and light. 

The French antique chandelier was found at Birmingham’s Tricia’s Treasures. 

Now this family has a perfect place to sit six people or more, and enjoy whatever is being served from the adjoining Kitchen.
